6th September 2013

So it's an end of an era as a Train Guard. I first started on the railway in March 2008. It was after I got penalty fared for not buying a ticket from Gatwick Airport to Woking. It really wasn't my fault, there were floods and it took me nearly four hours to get home.

Ironically, I first joined the railway as a Penalty Fare officer (known as a Revenue Protection Inspector on the railway ) and I become a Train Guard about a year later.

But now it's goodbye to being a Guard.

So far, I've been learning alongside about 9 newbies (from outside the railway) and 3 other ex Train Guards. It's quite easy at the moment because we are learning about stuff that we already know, but we will be on a level playing field with the newbies in a couple of weeks.

Lastly, my MacBook Air has broken, it's solid state hard drive has failed!
It broke just after its warrantee expired, isn't that always the way!

Luckily, the Apple store were very compliant and have offered to replace the hard drive free of charge. I guess it pays to buy direct because you have more consumer rights protection.

I won't get my laptop back for a few days now and I will probably go into more depth about this when I get it back.

All the best y'all.

Steve.
