| Some random guy in Lille |
Hey various stalkers, fans & family members.
I hope everyones okay.
So I've been out and about again travelling on the Eurostar. Normally I wouldn't be able to afford such modes of transport twice in the space of one month, however, the heavy discount train staff get really does help.
It was Salomè's birthday weekend and she invited me to come to her party which was being held on Saturday 18th July. I decided this would be a perfect excuse to do some more travelling. I initially intended on getting the Eurostar straight to Paris on the 17th, however, Eurostar was sold out all weekend. I decided to get the Eurostar to Lille instead.
I arrived in Lille on Friday 17th at 11:10 with my friend Scott (who also likes to do random travel). Neither of us had ever been to Lille before, we have both been to Belgium via Lille but had never actually gotten off the train. We have also toured France in the Car, but this is usually to buy cigarettes or to drive to Germany. Funny sidebar: We both went to Strasbourg thinking it was Germany once.
So according to Google's spies,
We walked around Lille between 11:54 and 13:23 and then we checked into our Hotel. Casino Barriére Lille, and took a rather long siesta between the hours of 13:30 and 19:13 (Neither of us slept the previous night as we were worried about being late for the Eurostar).
After what was meant to only be an hours sleep, we went to find somewhere to eat and found a restaurant called Buffalo Burger, 10 Rue Faidherbe, 59000 Lille. For our starter, the waiter suggested a very strange combo of chips covered in Bacon bits and Cheese. As unhealthy as it sounds, it actually turned out to be really nice. We both had burgers as our mains. The burger didn't really rock my world but I would definitely have the starter again.
We left the restaurant at 20:46 and went back to the Casino neighbouring the hotel. I am not a gambler but as it was a mini holiday, I decided to give the casino a go, however, I managed to spend 10 euros in a slot machine in one move...I guess I need to brush up on my French reading abilities. That also signalled the end of my French gambling habits!
I also ordered a French Mojito which is just like a normal Mojito but with Champagne. The rest of the evening is a mystery.
Steve
